The world we’re living in is very inter-connected. For example, we have smartphones and we may have more than one. While using all these gadgets, it gives us a multi-sensory experience. The speaker shows a picture of a surfer riding a wave. Such a person must have very good skills, and his entire being is surrounded by water; one mistake and he’ll tumble into the water. Today we are in this wave of the modern age and many things in today’s society are very useful and convenient. However, they also come with dangers.

We human beings are often attracted by prizes. Most of us working have our annual dinner and dance, and what attracts us most is the lucky draw prize. The most expensive/biggest prize is left right to the end and drawn at around 11.30/12. That’s the only reason many people go or stay that late. The moment the final prize is drawn, the crowd disperses quickly.

Part (1) of this sermon mentioned how God is key in building our families, good/bad decisions lead to good/bad outcomes. Abraham was brought up as a good example, and we should emulate him in building altars, leading a life of worship, and persevering in our journey even when things get difficult. Because of the good decisions he made, his family was blessed.

Revelation is a book from the Lord to John about the 7 churches. At the time, there were other churches besides the 7, for example, Colosse which was beside Laodicia. Why was this letter written only to these 7 churches?

Why does the church emphasise on honouring the senior members than loving the senior members? Isn’t it more practical to love our elderly members than honouring them? Normally, we would know how to love the elderly, because all of us know how to take care of our elderly members. But those who take care of elderly members don’t necessarily know how to honour them. Last month, the Ministry of Social and Family Development made this announcement: Those who abused the elderly increased by 100% these 2 years.
