Jesus is the true vine, we are the branches. If we are cut off, we will die because it has no life source! We have to abide in Christ; abide in His (1) words, (2) love, (3) church, and (4) Holy Spirit. Today, do we abide in Him, or are we just one of the people who are around Him?

When praying for the Holy Spirit, we think there’s always the next day, the next Spiritual Meeting. But we don’t realise there may not be the next second. We don’t know when God will require of our souls. For those who have received the Holy Spirit, it is still applicable to consider: if God requires our soul today, what is the point of all our pursuits in this world?

Let’s not just pray for the Holy Spirit so that we can ‘tick a checkbox’. Receiving the Holy Spirit means we can get to heaven. But wait, there’s more! The Holy Spirit also sanctifies us and helps us to transform to become more and more like Christ; to become better and better Christians.

Before man sinned, human life partook of God’s divine nature because God created man in the likeness of God. But after man sinned, we inherit an ungodly nature. Our new life begins with Christ! And in order for our new life to grow, we need to put in the diligence to bear these spiritual fruits. The sermon expounds on the fruits we should bear as listed in 2 Pet 1:5-8 - Faith, Virtue, Knowledge, Self-Control, Perseverance, Godliness, and Love.

We are living in darkness, but we are light. We are a chosen generation in this perverse world. But do we truly shine forth as light in this world? Is our behaviour befitting of a true Christian? Let us first be guided by the light of Christ, and be sure to shine forth as light to save those around us.
