Summary:

1. The devil has a few names: dragon, serpent, Satan. This reflects the different methods he employs to deceive us. Be discerning; do not let your guard down.
2. To not be swept away by the flood of the world, ask God to open the understanding of our hearts, that we may be able to comprehend the Scriptures.
3. How can we triumph over the devil? (1) By the blood of the Lamb - he can’t accuse us of sins anymore! (2) By bearing testimony - being the one to bear testimony is very different, it gives you conviction and strength in the faith. (3) By not loving our lives to the death - better to suffer for a moment now than suffer for eternity later.

Summary:
God gives us two wings of a great eagle to escape far and swiftly from the devil’s persecutions. How can we receive this?

1. Through prayer: We often don’t want to pray because we think we are weak. It’s precisely when we’re weak that we need prayer! It’s when we don’t want to pray that we need to pray! Otherwise we would enter into temptation.
2. Though the word of God: Sometimes even though we read the Bible and listen to sermons, it doesn’t help. Why? Because we just take it as a task to tick off. As we read the Bible, do we get closer to God and trust Him day by day?

Summary:
There is no man who can live and not see death, this is a fact. There are many things in life we can hope for but cannot be sure of. Yes, we can put in a lot of effort for certain things. Oftentimes, we hope for certain outcomes but all these outcomes may not be sure. What is for sure is that there is no way we can live, and not see death — there’s nothing surer than that! That day WILL COME. Hence, to many, it’s a taboo and they don’t want to talk about death. But not talking about it doesn’t mean it won’t happen. We know that one day we live is also one day we’ve died. Why is it that life is also about death? Why do we live? Why do we die? What can we do about it?

Summary:
What can we learn from the parable of the workers in the vineyard? Do we see serving our Heavenly Master as a joy and honour? Have we become servant to all, just as Jesus was? And do we see the good He has given us in our lives?

Tomorrow is Singapore’s National Day and we as Christians also celebrate and are happy for this occasion. Let us reflect and think about what kind of Christians we are in front of our authorities. Have we fulfilled our duties as citizens before our authorities?
